This weekend at the Javits center in Manhattan, there's a new convention in town. It's called The New York Anime Festival and it has anime screenings, manga, cosplay, video games, live-action Japanese cinema, and a ton of other stuff relating to Japanese pop culture. It showcases the places where culture and pop culture have blended together into anime culture
Then what? Kids pay $50 to go meet and get inspired by the guy who voices Speed Racer, the author of the graphic novel
Star Cross'd Destiny, or chat with a guy who writes a blog about sake. But then what? Go home and keep appreciating anime?
No! Go home and enter BKFK's
Digital Arts Challenge which is looking for ideas/concepts/drawings of stories told visually. Does that sound like Anime to you? Sure does to us! We'll be awarding 10K and a trip to NYC to meet with publishers. Why just attend the Anime Festival when you could do something that gets you famous for your creativity?
If you're a teacher and you know of a bright teen with great passion for storytelling, you can help inspire them to win too. We have
free curriculum to help inspire those kids. Get started today.
