I may be obsessed with Sarah Boone. Perhaps it is because she was from New Haven, Connecticut and By Kids For Kids' offices are nearby. It may be because, in a time when being a black
inventor was uncommon and being a woman inventor a rarity, as an African American woman inventor, she faced incredible obstacles and overcame them. Or maybe it's just that so little is known about her personal life.
We know she received her patent in 1892. We can read her patent and see the drawings. But past that, very little is known. I'm thinking I need to take a trip up to Yale to see if there is additional information.
