Women Inventors....Did you know about JENGA?

In celebration of women's history month, BKFK will be featuring famous women inventor stories this month!

In 1970, JENGA was invented by a 16 year old. JENGA is a game played with stackable wooden blocks. Leslie, a British Citizen, came up with the idea while living in Africa as a teenager. She invented the game, brought it home to England and started playing with her friends. While attending Oxford University, her friends pretty much demanded that she try and sell it.

The word JENGA is Swahili for "build". JENGA became the second best selling game in the world. These days, it is available in many formats and is sold by HASBRO.
