With gas prices soaring high, I decided to join a growing community of hypemilers to squeeze out every mile per gallon. While I've been hypermiling and learning new tricks to save gas,
17 year old Andrew Angellotti has been cruising roads in Michigan without using a drop of gas! Andrew has converted a Mazda pickup and a Toyota car to electric power. Both vehicles run only on battery power.
The pickup truck has 1300 pounds of car batteries and a range of 40 miles. Its top speed is about 55 miles per hour. The Toyota Tercel can do 70, but can only travel about 20 miles before recharging.
With an additional $10 a month to the electric bill to recharge the batteries, Andrew is saving hundreds on his gas. And I am still hypermiling to save every penny I can!
